Maternal Filicide, Why?

With everything that is wrong with this world, what we rarely see is maternal filicide. Trust me tho, it happens. First off, what is maternal filicide? Maternal filicide is a simple but very very disturbing thing to think about. Basically, it's when a mother kills their children. I know, crazy right? Now let's discuss why it happenes. Most people would think that children are blessings and that killing them is completely bizarre and these people are right. It takes a very mentally sick and insane person to commit such a crime. Research has been conducted on some of the crazy people who commit this crime and it has been said that most of these parents have depression, psychosis, and suicidal thoughts. Also, the researchers have found five motives to the crime: Altruistic filicide, acutely psychotic filicide, fatal maltreatment filicide, unwanted child filicide and spouse revenge filicide. What this shows is that the murder  of these children isn't directly because they feel like it, there is most likely a something that is driving the person to kill them. For example, let's take fatal maltreatment filicide. The parent isn't just in the mood to kill their children, nor do they want to. What drove them to do it was repeated abuse. This is kinda an exception. In such a case, the parent didn't mean to kill the child. Another fact that was found during research that real struck me was the gena collection of sayings and ideas attributed to the Chinese philosopher Confucius and his contemporariesder ratio. What I mean by this is the percentage of mothers who killed their children to the percentage of fathers who killed their children. 33% percent of the killings were carried out by fathers and 30% by mothers. Now tell me, do you think this is right?

Taoism and Our World Today

How can Taoism help deepen our understanding of early China? First off, what is Taoism? Taoism is a Religious concept in that life should not have any stresses and you should just "go with the flow". You shouldn't worry about the past or the future, just let life take you on the path it created for you. Taoism is a very interesting concept because it can help us better our understanding of early China and Ho it was at the time. In the article we read today, one of the big ideas was that people of China wanted to bring Taoism back and they liked the idea. What Taoism can help us do is notice how the people of early China were. In our social studies classes, but we learned how the people of other early cultures had strict beliefs and had certain things to do based on their class or caste. In Taoism, we can infer that the people of early China were laid back. No worries. No stress. Even though there is little evidence to enhance our understanding about early China, Taoism helps us to understand it a little. Enter,

Is the World Real?

Is the world as we know it really a thing? Is it just a thought in someone's head? A we just a simulation? After reading the article "Are we a Living Computer Simulation", it has passed through my mind that the world and everything in it could just be a lie, someone could just turn their computer off and we would be gone. Personally, I don't believe what is called the computer simulation theory. This theory states that reality as we know ur, is just a computer simulation. I believe the reality as I always have, it's here and that's how we're living. In reality. Not just in someone's computer. You might think otherwise. Its really just how you perceive the theory. So, is the world real?

The Book of Job, The Haulocost and More Violence

Wow. That's what I have to say about this article. I find this a very interesting tiling to be comparing to The Book of Job because of how well they compare. What happened in The Book of Job and this article are very similar. The author of the article also says something that directly relates to our studies of the Old Testament and The Book of Job."I think if God is so great and so powerful, he could have struck Hitler down before he killed so many Jews. That’s my feeling." This is exactly what we've been saying. If God is great and powerful, why can't he just se that Job is faithful and why can't he just end Hitler before he killed so many Jews. He has no reason to have to kill so many Jews or make Job's life a living hell. He also said "I really don’t understand my father’s faith. I don’t understand why he would risk his life in the camps for a God who had seemingly abandoned him. Nor do I understand my mother’s strange combination of faith and doubt. How she continued to observe the commandments of a God she could not forgive." This also directly compares to what we've been saying because as we see from this quote, both of his parents never gave up on God. Even though they were being tortured and eventually killed, they never gave up faith in God and they never stopped believing in him. Just life Job, his entire family, friends and animals were killed plus the fact that God tortured him, he never gave up on God and never stopped believing or being faithful. Even in the present day, we see how just about 70 years ago, God was still testing people's faith in violent ways.

God and His Tests

Our assignment for this post was to read and write about parts 1 and 2 of the Book of Job. We were then asked to analyze the similarities and differences in The Book of Job and other Old Testament stories. What a perfectly fitting question. From the other stories that we've read in the Old Testament, we've learned that God is a very merciless, self centered character. He doesn't care what's it's like for the person, he will do anything he needs to test this certain person. Is what he does really necessary? I would say no, purely because of the brutality of his tests. For example, let's take Noah's Ark. God has all the power ever. In the story, the people were sinning and disobeying God. Instead of just using his power to solve the problem, he creates a flood to kill everyone and everything on earth (excluding Noah, his family and the animals). This is just like two other stories we read, The Book of Job and the story of Abraham and Isaac. God has all this power, but doesn't know how to use it for the good. He could have just used his power to see if Job and Abraham were faithful, but instead he makes Abraham kill his only son Isaac. Isaac took a very long time to be conceived and God wants him to be killed just for a test? Instead of using his power to test Job's faith, God kills his family, friends, animals and then goes on to make his life absolute hell. I think we can all see a pattern here. God will go to a dramatic point just to test this person. The only differences we see are the little details like the killing methods, the reason for testing and stuff like that. Other than that, the take away here is that in most Old Testament stories, God doesn't care what he does as long as he gets what he wants.

High School, The Beautiful Change (NOT)

So far, the best thing about high school is... Well to be honest, I haven't found a best thing yet. So far I love everything. I have found that high school is not much different than middle school. Other than the teachers being a little less strict and having the ability to leave for free periods and lunch, it's almost the same. I have also found that things are a lot more free here. In middle schools, phones anywhere between the first bell and the last bell were absolutely forbidden. If you get caught with your phone, that's it its gone. Also, middle school was kind of like a mix of elementary and high school, middle school was more on the elementary side. Strict recess times, monitors, always being watched in the hallways. High school isn't like this. You never have someone like a monitor. Freedom is yours. The worst thing about high school is the dismissal time. I love that we go in later, but we also get out later. In middle school, I enjoyed being home for longer. Don't get me wrong, the extra half hour of sleep really
helps. Other than these few reasons, I absolutely love high school way more than I did middle school.

God Mind Map

Upon looking further at God as a character, I've realized that he is a much different character than a lot of us thought. In class we have read Genesis 1-3 and Genesis 6-9. During our reading, we have been analyzing God as a character and through this analyzation, I have discovered God was a much different character than I thought. As most people do, I always thought of God as a forgiving, nice person. But as we went on with out reading, I have discovered he may just be the complete opposite. As we read through the Book of Genesis, we read about the flood, Noah's ark and how the earth in its entirety was created. One of the biggest things that stood out to me as we reading that showed God as a totally different person was when God said he created man in his own image. This really stood out to me showing that God isn't what we think he is because he's saying he created man in his own image. He created the first man without having anyone to base it off, so this lead me to think he based the man off himself. If he had to kill mankind because of their sinning and disobedience, does this portray how he is as a person? Also, just his pure actions shows how he is. Take the flood. God is a powerful character. Why couldn't he use his power to solve the problems? Why did he have to go straight to killing most of what he created?

Adam, Eve, and the Unfollowed Instruction

Today in class, we read 1-3 In the book of Genesis. We were asked to answer just one question: who was to blame? Within the first three parts of the book of Genesis, God is creating the world and mankind. He creates animals, day, night, water (oceans) the sky, etc. The most important thing God created within those 3 parts was man kind. He created Adam, the first man. After creating Adam and further developing the world, he felt that Adam needed a suitable helper. After not being able to find one, he created Eve out of one of Adams rib. After having put Adam up as ruler of everything on the ground, he then gives Adam and Eve one specific instruction, not to eat from the tree in the center of the Garden of Eden. "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." These are the specific instructions God told Adam. Now let me ask you this, would u ever disobey gods instructions? Can you guess what happened? Yes, Adam and Eve were convinced to eat from the tree. This is what eventually got them kicked out of the garden of Eden. Now, who's to blame? Adam for not enforcing the one rule God gave them? The serpent, for convincing Eve to eat from the tree? Or Eve, for eating from the tree when she was specifically told not to. I believe that it was a mix of both Adam and Eve's fault. Adam should have been there to make sure everyone followed the directions, and Eve should have just listened to her one specific rule.

Utna-Pishti Flood vs. Other Cultural Floods

Our first project in class was talking about the story of Gilgamesh. We discussed the story and compared it with other flood stories from other cultures. For example, we compared it to the story of Noah's ark. We talked about how story had a flood sent by a god with a main purpose of killing people for certain things that happened. The flood in Gilgamesh was sent to wipe out the city due to the noise level. In the story of Noah's ark, the flood was sent because of the people's sins.  Another story we could compare this too is the Arcadian story about Dardanus and the Arcadian flood. This story is about a great flood that drove Dardanus from his lands. This great flood submerged the lowlands, making them unfit for cultivation. This compares to the story of Gilgamesh because of the fact that both floods had a lethal edge to them. Even though the Arcadian flood wasn't sent because of noise, it was sent to drive people out of the city. Another cultural flood story that we can compare to Gilgamesh is the story of The Greek flood. This flood was sent by Zeus to kill the men of the Bronze Age. This story can relate well to the story of Gilgamesh as both floods were sent with a goal of wiping something out. Gilgamesh, the city and Greek, the men of the Bronze Age.
